Before understanding the cause of snoring in chickens, you must first understand the condition of the respiratory system of poultry. Many cases of snoring chickens are characterized by sneezing and sniffing. Chicken eyes and nose look runny.

Respiratory problems in chickens can occur due to trivial matters such as dust, or also be an indication of serious chicken disease, for which you should consult a veterinarian.

Respiratory problems can refer to various diseases, including snoring. Often the environment also has a big hand. It could be that your pet chickens are sensitive to dust. If described, the causes of respiratory problems in chickens are:

  • High stress
  • Dust in the cage
  • Extreme temperature
  • There is a new chicken introduced to the old flock

Signs And Symptoms Of Snoring In Chickens

Some signs or symptoms of snoring in chickens can be a reference to whether the health of their respiratory system is disturbed. The characteristics are:

Snoring is a mild and common respiratory disease in chickens. Most cases occur due to environmental factors. If the environment is resolved, snoring problems may never come. Other things that facilitate the respiratory system of chickens are:

  • Clean the chicken coop
  • Gently dripping salt solution on the chicken eye
  • Doing massage
  • Add chopped thyme leaves, dill/fennel leaves, cinnamon, clover, and basil to separate feeds or bowls.
  • Change the base/husk

As long as you are sensitive and continue to apply the above habits, snoring chickens can return to sleep with normal breathing. If things don’t change, you can immediately contact the nearest veterinarian.
